10 Must-Pack Essentials for Your Sequoia National Park Wedding or Elopement

Alright, adventurers…you're about to say “I do” in one of the most beautiful places on earth! As your go-to Sequoia Elopement and Wedding Photographer. here’s my top 10 must-pack list to make sure you’re prepped for adventure, magic, and those jaw-dropping photos.

Before we start I do want to note that supplies vary depending on season. These are just a list of items that I bring, to each their own! :)

1. Comfy Hiking Shoes or Boots

Yes, even if you're wearing a gorgeous dress or an elegant suit—trust me, your feet will thank you!! We’ll likely be wandering through giant trees, over granite, and maybe even a little dirt. Pack the fancy shoes for quick swaps if you want those classy shots, but always ensure that you have proper shoes to avoid any blisters or injuries. I LOVEEE a good hiking boots + wedding dress moments. Honestly it is probably one of my favorite photos! Elopement aesthetic at its finest!

Love a good dress and hiking book shot!

I wear these but it depends on your preference. I always recommend wearing your hiking boots out before a big hike to ensure you’ve broken them in and to avoid blisters on your big day!!

2. Layers, Layers, Layers

Sequoia’s weather does whatever it wants. Mornings can be cold, afternoons warm, and evenings in the middle!. Bring a cozy jacket, and if you’re eloping in cooler months, thermals under your wedding fit are a must. Especially if there’s snow! What you wear truly depends on the season, but my biggest piece of advice is to make sure you’re comfortable!

On this cold winter day we took lots of breaks warming up in these SUPER warm jackets. Pro Tip: Pack hand warmers for the winter!!

3. Water & Snacks

A reusable water bottle is a must (hydrated couples = glowing photos). And pack some easy snacks—granola bars, trail mix, or even a sandwhich to keep the energy up. Some couples even set up an intimate picnic!

4. Marriage License

If you are legally getting married here, you’ll need to have your marriage license signed! It’s such an honor when a couple ask me to sign as a witness!!

6. Headlamp or Flashlight

If we’re catching sunrise or sunset, having a headlamp makes those early or late hikes way easier and safer of course!! Plus, it sets the vibe for some dreamy after-dark astro photos!

It was already pretty dark when I took this shot, but with the right settings and light from the lanterns, we got this amazing shot!

7. Bug Spray & Sunscreen

Mosquitoes can be annoying, especially in warmer months, and the mountain sun is no joke. Make sure to protect your skin!!

8. Vow Books

A sweet detial shot for with rings, vow books, map, and her bouquet!

Sure, you can read from your phone, but there’s just something extra special about handwritten vows in a little notebook you can keep forever.

9. Small Backpack to Carry It All

Keep your hands free for adventuring (and holding each other!). A lightweight, comfy backpack will hold all your essentials without being a hassle.

10. A Pop of Personality

Bring something uniquely you…a family heirloom, a funky jacket, a hat, or even a bottle of champagne to pop! These little details make your elopement feel even more personal and add some extra fun to your photos!!

Now that you know exactly what to pack, let’s get you two married in the most epic way possible! Ready to start planning your Sequoia adventure? Let’s chat and make some magic happen!
